Quantitative determination of phospholipids in blood serum or plasma by a nondestructive method

A method for the estimation of phospholipids in total lipid mixtures without previous digestion of the phospholipids into inorganic phosphate is described. Reaction conditions, accurary and calibration curves measured with standard mixtures of phospholipids by the new method and the reference method are presented. Results obtained with the new method are shown to compare very well with the reference method in which the common digestion step is incorporated. The method without digestion might be more suitable for automated determination of phospholipids than methods in which a digestion step is necessary. Copyright © 1974 Published by Elsevier B.V.
