Tough Turtles

Divorce and parental separation are common occurrences worldwide and can have a significant impact on children's well-being, emotional functioning, and behaviour. Taking preventative measures to reduce the negative effects of such events is crucial. The Tough Turtles programme is a selective intervention programme for children of divorce that aims to do just that. Based on theories of play therapy, developmental psychology, stress and coping resilience promotion, and prevention, the programme
provides timely and supportive outreach to children of divorce, reducing their risk across systems that impact them. Children can share experiences, establish common bonds, clarify misconceptions, and gain skills to help them cope with the stressful changes that often come with divorce in a supportive group environment.
