Assessment of health and comfort in an indoor office environment: The need for another approach
conference paper
Relationships between indoor building conditions and health and comfort of occupants are complex; many indoor stressors can cause their effects additively or through complex interactions. It has been shown that exposure to these stressors can cause both short-term and long-term effects, but relevant relations between measurements of chemical and physical indoor environmental parameters and effects have been difficult to make. It is essential to systematically identify how and why people respond to external stressors. Information was gathered from different fields of expertise, on how and why people respond to external stressors. The next step is to determine which parameters or indicators can be used to explain these responses and how to assess those. Only when the picture is clear, an attempt can be made to pinpoint the effects caused by different stressors or combination of stressors.
