CO2 transportation and network development
bookPart
The transport of CO2 via a pipeline is a well-established technology; however, large-scale national CO2 grids are not yet well established, and their development comes with unique challenges. This chapter provides an introduction to CO2 transport via a pipeline and reviews the relative merits and disadvantages of a newer transportation method, CO2 shipping. It also discusses the main risks and challenges for the emergence of the market for large-scale CO2 transport both for pipelines and shipping, considering how these could be overcome to unlock commercial development. This chapter concludes with a case study by Carbon Collectors that describes their end-to-end CO2 shipping solution.
