Een kinderbeschermingsmaatregel rond de geboorte: dilemma’s en samenwerking
article
Collaboration between professionals is not self-evident when a child protection measure is carried out at birth. However, with the complexity of these cases good collaboration between maternity care providers, social workers
and child protection services is all the more crucial. The aim of this project was to evaluate collaboration through empirical action-oriented research and to develop a protocol with the use of collected data and consensus meetings. This included 31 interviews with highly-engaged professionals, showing that collaboration with the 'other domain' is often experienced as difficult and frustrating. Professionals felt an urgent need to improve this. Important themes were: continuity of care, parental follow-up care, care evaluation and prevention. Lack of capacity was cited as worrying. The new protocol contains two scripts providing concrete
steps and guidance to professionals involved in the implementation of child protection measures at birth. The
project was executed by TNO and Amsterdam UMC and was granted by ZonMw.
