In this whitepaper, we seek to highlight a promising innovative use case for advanced connectivity in the field of Cloud robotics. Cloud robotics is the coming together of robotics with cloud computing. We argue that the next generation of cloud robotics will be further enabled by: next-generation connectivity, Cloud computation, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Specifically, this whitepaper addresses current trends in robotics research, notably Cloud robotics, and will give a broad overview on how developments in AI, Cloud technologies and advanced connectivity such as 5G and 6G will be crucial for its further development and adoption. Finally we conclude with a vision on the future directions of the field of Cloud robotics.
