Geleerde lessen uit interventieonderzoek naar arbeidsmarktdiscriminatie

article
Lessons learned from intervention research into labour market discrimination In this essay, we share the lessons learned during the implementation of a largescale intervention study (Pilot Nudging) in which TNO, together with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW), has studied the applicability, effectiveness and underlying mechanisms of three interventions aimed at reducing the role of prejudice against people with a nonWestern migration background in the recruitment and selection process. The interventions were studied in 19 medium to large Dutch organizations. In total, we describe five main lessons, addressing the methodological challenges of the study design; the importance of broad involvement of participating organizations; the importance of intensive guidance of the organizations; managing expectations towards candidates; and the complexity of the recruitment and selection process. By sharing our lessons, we aim to contribute to new initiatives by researchers, policymakers and professionals that aim to prevent discrimination in the recruitment and selection process.
