Subsurface energy storage is essential for the future energy system. Storage guarantees security of supply and flexibility
other
Beyond 2030, there will be a large demand for subsurface storage of energy to safeguard an interrupted energy supply. It can also ensure the security of supply and flexibility of our future energy system. The storage of hydrogen as a sustainable energy carrier will make an essential contribution. The timely realisation in reality of subsurface storage represents a major challenge. Studies by TNO and EBN show that the period between now and 2030 will be crucial for the safe and fitting development of sustainable subsurface energy storage between 2030 and 2050.
