Optimization of pulse intervals for unambiguous Doppler recovery with oversampled dictionary
conference paper
Doppler ambiguities can be avoided by transmitting a burst with irregular pulse intervals and processing it with sparse reconstruction on receive. Furthermore, the time interval for each individual pulse can be optimized to maximize the recovery success. In this line, this work investigates the optimization of pulse intervals for unambiguous recovery of Doppler shift with oversampled dictionary by means of genetic algorithms. By comparing the recovery success obtained after optimization with different loss functions, we conclude that oversampling produces a clustering of models in the dictionary that cannot be properly handled by traditional measures, such as a mutual coherence. We propose various alternative losses suitable for this optimization problem
