3D CAPS - Deliverable 5.5: Final technical report
report
Reducing the carbon footprint of many of the technologies associated with today’s society is a challenge in terms of the size of equipment as well as the energy costs associated with the CO2 abatement. The 3D-CAPS project aims to reduce the size of the equipment needed to remove and recover CO2 from industrial gases, using two promising new adsorption-based technologies with an inherently small energy footprint. The 3D-CAPS project is carried out by an international consortium of end-users in the oil and gas industry, a technology provider, an SME, and European research and academic institutes. The required adsorbents for these technologies are prepared using the latest innovations in additive manufacturing, commonly known as 3D-printing. This technology allows tailored materials with much improved heat and mass-transfer characteristics to be prepared, that are not available through traditional material preparation routes.
