New approaches on maintenance in safety critical applications: report about the TNO / MARINTEK project on cost effective maintenance methodology

The Norwegian and Dutch research and development institutes MARINTEK and TNO have identified parallel activities in the field of maintenance technology. They have both identified a wide gap between the available methods, specifically in the field of Reliability Centred Maintenance, and daily maintenance practices in many companies. In this paper both authors present the results from their research. Also some indications are given what direction can be taken to improve this situation in the future.
