Geluidvelden in omsloten ruimten analytisch beschreven met behulp van modale superpositie: theorie en validatie / Sound fields described with modal superposition: theory and experimental results
article
Within the antinoise program there is a need for mathematical models to describe sound fields in enclosures in both the frequency and the time domain. According to Morse (1939, 1968) such sound fields can be expanded in terms of eigenfunctions or standing waves. This is called modal superposition. Model superposition in the frequency domain is well known from literature. However, modal superposition in the time domain is rarely found in literature. In this article frequency as well as time domain expressions based on modal superposition will be derived. The simulations based on these expressions show good agreement in the low frequency area which is especially important for active noise control. The modal superposition formulas show fundamental differences between steady state and decay sound fields.
