Characterising structure-borne sound from domestic appliances

article
Structure-borne sound sources have a complicated way of exciting the building structure. For practical applications it is necessary to simplify the way of describing the structure-borne sound source and the transmission. In this paper the source will be described by the equivalent source strength, and the transmission by the structure-borne sound sensitivity. Several measuring methods to obtain this decriptor were applied. The plate method proved to be an adequate laboratory method. In case of lightweight floors a correction has to be added. It is expected that the occurrence of torques will reduce the accuracy of the method.
