conference paper
Risk Based Asset Management (RBAM), or rather Asset Management based on both a perfor-mance requirement and a supporting Risk Analysis, is a beneficial Asset Management methodology for a number of industries, including the Asset Management of infrastructure. In the implementation of RBAM at Rijkswaterstaat a number of challenges have been faced. This paper focusses on three major challenged and the solutions adopted: 1) how to RBAM into the existing asset management processes. 2) how to communi-cate effectively about the performance and its constraints with all levels within the organization, including the communication with decision makers, maintenance engineers and operators and 3) how to scale RBAM scope into manageable implementation.
