De effectiviteit van huidbescherimgsmiddelen bij het werken met bestrijdingsmiddelen in de glastuinbouw [Effectiveness of personal protective equipment for skin protection while working with pesticides in greenhouses]

report
In a joint of TNO-HUMAR, TNO-MBL, TNO-PML and the TNO Human Factors Research Institute, problems related to skin protection against pesticides for glasshouse workers were studied. An attempt was made to answer the following Questions: Which type of skin protection (gloves, garments) should be used dependent on the task to be performed? The type of protection is defined in terms of design and material. The task is defined in terms of formulation or application of pesticides and of work on the plants in between applications on one hand and in terms of toxicity of the pesticide on the other. How long will the protection be effective, and when should replacement or decontamination be considered. How (un)comfortable are the different types of protection and how much reduction in task performance do the cause. Results from separate investigations of the institutes were first reported in institute reports. The present report summarizes the results specifically for the actual user of skin protective equipment. It presents guidelines for the selection, use, cleaning and re-use of the protective equipment.
