Evaluating the consequences of retrofitting residential multi-family buildings on indoor environmental quality, comfort, health and user satisfaction
conference paper
Within the European project RETROKIT a systemic approach is being developed for retrofitting existing multi-family residential buildings. Modular combination of (semi-) prefabricated technological solutions will be demonstrated in three case studies. The part of the study described here aims to evaluate the consequences of the retrofit process on indoor environmental quality and user satisfaction.
From previous studies, there are indications that several indoor environmental quality parameters, as well as perceived comfort and health, may be both positively and adversely affected by energy efficiency measures (e.g. reviews by Fisk, 2015 and Maidment et al., 2014). To date however, few retrofit intervention studies exist in which both the changes in indoor environmental parameters as well as aspects of user satisfaction and changes in perceived comfort and health are evaluated.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the consequences of retrofitting in multi-family buildings, on IEQ, comfort, health and user satisfaction. For IEQ specific attention is paid to air quality, thermal aspects, noise and lighting
