Een elektronenluminescentie-apparaat

article
The electron luminescence apparatus is designed to observe the luminescence of geological specimens due to electron bombardment. A 30 kV miniaturized electron gun and electro-magnetic lens with deflector and stigmator coils provides a 30 μm spot on the specimen. The axis of the irradiating system is at 45 degrees with the microscope axis. Xrays produced as a result of electron bombardment of the specimen, can be taken off through two beryllium windows. Observation of the luminescence is done by an optical microscope with magnifications of 90 x, 150 x and 300 x. This microscope is also suited for observation of the specimen in transmitted or reflected polarized light. The vacuum system is automatized with a three piston vacuum-valve and enables specimen changing within 40 seconds.
