Beter geïnformeerd op weg : Routekaart 2013 - 2023 : Hoofddocument

report
On 4 November governments, market players, stakeholders, knowledge institutions and research organisations presented a joint strategy to use innovative technology to tackle traffic jams. The ‘Better informed on route’ navigation map sets out the investment course for the parties involved, including TNO, in large-scale implementation of technologies for smart mobility. Travellers already have relevant travel information at their disposal before and during journeys, which enables them to travel smarter. But the possibilities are far from exhausted: smartphones, navigation and car-to-infrastructure communication systems offer huge opportunities to make better use of the infrastructure. New ‘in-car’ technology enables cars to communicate with each other and inform road users better and quicker, with vehicles automatically able react to the road behaviour of other vehicles and to signals provided by traffic management systems. Result: better flow, safety and environmental quality.
Implementation Agenda
An implementation agenda that is yet to be published will see industry, government and research committing to the further development of travel information and traffic management. The DITCM Innovations program largely implements this Implementation Plan. TNO is one of the founders of DITCM innovations and carries out the daily management. The summary of the DITCM program as a PDF can be found at http://www.ditcm.eu/innovations/about-the-program.
