Blind range influence on guidance loop performance: An adjoint-based analysis
conference paper
In this paper, we investigate the use of adjoint simulation for assessing the miss distance performance of a generic guidance system under the influence of a blind range condition. The term "blind range" refers to that final portion of the missile trajectory for which sensor data are not available. In practice, when this happens, the acceleration commands issued by the missile guidance system will effectively follow some pre-defined guidance law. The pre-defined guidance law applies for the duration of the blind range and is generally known as the blind range guidance policy. Here, we develop adjoint models which allow us to examine the impact on miss distance due to implementation of two such policies.
