User demands for new mixed reality tools, first results of the ManuVAR project
bookPart
This paper concerns the enhancement of the Mixed Reality system Ergomix, which is used to design assembly work stations. The evaluation was performed by 12 virtual reality experts in 5 cases, which was used as input for a new system. The new system should contain the key advantages of its predecessor, to be transparent (for good communication), easy to use (inputs from sketches and CAD) and be able to make the workers experience the new environment. Based on the results, the new requirements are: showing different views at the same time, having digital com1ections to other systems, making it portable for on site sessions and adding libraries with guidelines for acceptable musculoskeletal loadings. These adaptations will be developed in the Manu V AR project.
