Influences of office tasks on body dynamics using dynamic office chairs

bookPart
The functionality of office chairs is important to accommodate variations in user postures and movemcnts as scveral studies showed these variations with performing different tasks (Adams et a!., 1986, Van Diecn et a!., 2001, Dowell et a!., 2001, Commissaris & Reijneveld, 2005, Babski-Reevcs et aI., 2005, Ellegast et a!., 2007). Also, users' chair preferences in relation to function type are different with diverge functions (Legg et aI., 2002). Therefore it seems that different types of tasks need different chair characteristics. An experiment with a focus on task support of the office chair showed that office workers performing a reading task required a larger back rest inclination range compared with a VDU task (Groenesteijn et aI., 2009).
