A cooperative road-vehicle system to improve throughput - functioning and communication aspects

conference paper
A cooperative road-vehicle system is currently being developed, referred to as Connected Cruise
Control (CCC). It provides an advice to the driver regarding speed, headway and lane in order to
anticipate and eventually prevent congestion. This advice is determined in a back-office using
real-time traffic simulation models that predict the traffic situation up to ten minutes in advance.
This paper focuses on the functioning of the CCC system and the communication between the
back-office and the vehicles
