Performance of Wireless V2X Communication

In the SPITS project, an ITS Gateway has been developed, implementing the 802.11p protocol. Performance measurements have been performed to determine the effective communication distance by determining the packet delivery ratio. Also correlations between lost packets are determined. These results have been used in a ad-hoc network simulator to determine the effect of the density of cooperative vehicles and of changing the interval between the packets transmitted. Based on these simulations, the A270 test site has been equipped with ITS Gateways providing full coverage over the test site with excellent performance.
