TNO was commissioned by Stichting Bibliotheek.nl to carry out a study into 'eBooks via the library'. N.B. The report was originally classified as confidential but, with the agreement of Stichting Bibliotheek, it was decided to make this version available.
In the final report (only available in Dutch), TNO describes developments in the eBook market in the Netherlands that constitute an ‘ideal’ eBooks proposition for public libraries, and highlights aspects that need to be taken into account in the provision of such a service (e.g. how to combat eBook piracy). The study places eBooks in the wider context of an innovation in its early stages. The TNO report covers several relevant perspectives: the perspective of the user, the technology and the partners.
