Sun Tzu’s Art of War for Telecom : Telecom vs OTT from a Daoistic Perspective

conference paper
Sun Tzu's Art of War is a work of Chinese philosophy. It can be seen as a manual for warfare, but at the same time it is so much more. Sun Tzu's Art of War describes how the ultimate victory is one won without fighting. Any sector, including the telecommunications sector, may learn from Sun Tzu's work. The work contains concepts like doing appraisals (importance of information), of taking whole (creating a win-win), of the sage commander (strong leadership), of emotions (being rational) and of shih (having the initiative). Sun Tzu's insights in these concepts have stood the test of time for over 2500 years and we may do well to study them in today’s Telecom industry.
