Teamwork in clothing factories: experiences from the Netherlands

article
The experiences of four companies are studied in a research project for the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. Companies producing jackets and trousers, industrial clothing, domestic textiles and jeans were covered by the project. Structural changes made by the companies are noted and the effect on the quality of work and quality of organization are discussed. It is concluded that teamwork can be profitable. Steering from the top and operative involvement are essential. Attention still has to be paid to group dynamic skills and training facilities.
