Single point methods for determining blast wave injury

report
Models for calculating human injury from a blast wave are examined. The Axelsson BTD model is able to give injury estimates also for complex shock waves, but is difficult to use in practise since it requires input from four pressure sensors on a BTD (Blast Test Device) in the specific location. To find the injury in other places, a new experiment or simulation has to be performed. However, several SP (Single Point) methods for injury calculation are seen to exist, where the side-on pressure history in the given location is the only required input parameter. To determine the accuracy of these models, a large numerical study was performed for various charge sizes at different distances. The estimates of the SP-models were compared with Axelsson BTD and in general seen to be in good agreement.
