Autoaggression and tactile communication in pairs of adult stumptailed macaques
article
Used Macaca arctoides to examine how the amount of time spent in autoaggression (fighting behaviour directed to one's own body, presumed to have been induced by separate housing) is affected by tactile interaction with a partner. That autoaggression continues to occur after tactile contact with partners suggests that it could also serve as avoiding the elicitation and receipt of social aggression.-from Authors Macaca arctoides.
