Ouderen met verhoogde valkans worden inactief: een valkuil voor henzelf en voor preventie
article
Older persons fall in a situation in which they loose control of their balance. For falls prevention, healthcare professionals should screen for, and if necessary, treat those factors related to emerging balance problems. In this article it is discussed that the lack of willingness of older persons to participate in falls prevention programs is associated to their tendency to avoid physical activities which they perceive as too difficult. Suggestions are given for early detection of reduced balance control and falls prevention.
