VoIP interconnection ; between Internet, Cable, Mobile and Fixed Worlds

conference paper
Four worlds on their own that hardly interconnect;
All use SIP, but differently - Internet world - Mobile world - Cable world - Fixed world
- At most, only basic voice service will interoperate between those worlds
In recent years, VoIP/multimedia services (VoIP: Voice over Internet Protocol) have developed at a breathtaking pace. There are significant differences between operators in the fields of mobile, fixed, cable, and Internet communications, both in terms of the type of VoIP/multimedia services that are being developed and the technologies on which they are based. These differences are causing problems in the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) standardisation process because each sector uses its own SIP 'dialect'. The article as published in the 'Automatisering Gids' is only available in Dutch.
