Climate change and the Dutch building sector

conference paper
Buildings are designed to protect people from external influences and to create a safe, healthy and comfortable living environment. These demands should be fulfilled for
a pre-defined design-lifetime. Changes in climate will effect the demands set to both new and existing buildings.
In this paper, three items related to climate change are discussed. The paper focuses on the question what adaptation measures are needed for existing and new building stock. These items relate to structural safety, indoor health and durability of building materials.
Analysis of these items will be based on the IPCC reports, and worked out by KNMI in the PCCC report
