Matrix/Fibril fibres from cellulose acetate and acrylonitrile copolymer

article
Matrix/fibril filaments which contain cellulose acetate (CA) and an acrylonitrile copolymer (PAN) were made by phase separation spinning of the components from a solution in a common solvent. After removal of the major phase (CA), very fine fibrils of PAn (diameter 0·1-0·2 μ) remained behind. Their fibrillar structure was not destroyed by graphitising. © 1973.
