A wide variety of new products, such as photovoltaic (PV) systems and solar collectors, roof lights, ventilation devices, insulation and safety devices, is
finding its way into the roofing industry. As a result many problems occurred, resulting in poor quality, unsafe working conditions and high repair costs. The
6th framework Pan- European EUR-ACTIVE ROOFer project aims to improve roof quality and reduce failure costs.
Application of a new design methodology for active roofs makes development and innovation of systems and products easier. As a result new concepts for energy generating, active roofs will be developed. In the paper the design methodology will be described and the first results of the collaborative approach will
