A quantitative chromatographic determination of cysteic acid in amino acid mixtures on ion exchange papers

A new and rapid method for determining cysteic acid in a mixture of amino acids has been developed. For the separation, use is made of chemically modified paper containing quaternary ammonium groups. Quantitative determination can be done on the paper densitometrically as well as spectrophotometrically (after elution). The densitometric determination is rapid but not very exact. The spectrophotometric method gives more reproducible values with a relative standard deviation of 3%.
