A contribution to the epipsammic diatom flora of Estonia

article
A study of the modern epipsammic diatom flora in Lake Karujärv, Saaremaa Island, Estonia revealed seventy-one taxa representing thirty-one genera. The identity of all taxa is documented with light micrographs. Most abundant taxa of the epipsammic diatom community were Achnanthidium minutissimum sensu lato and Cocconeis placentula var. euglypta, whereas Encyonopsis microcephala, Gomphonema minutum, Mastogloia smithii, and Sellaphora mutata were of secondary importance. © 2006 J.
