Intelligence Gathering, Looking for the Needle in the Haystack

other
To counter potential terrorist and criminal threats, the intelligence community has to collect and process
enormous amounts of structured and unstructured information from various own and open sources.
Particularly the extracted knowledge from unstructured information has to be transferred into a structure
(or knowledge network) to be able to recognise (potential) threats and trends rapidly, to produce
intelligence and to undertake surveillance, protection and security activities.
To perform this task well, a methodology for spotting suspicious signs combined with intelligent
information technology has been developed at TNO Physics and Electronics Laboratory.
