Pilot scale deionisation of a galvanic nickel solution using a hybrid ion-exchange/electrodialysis system

article
A pilot scale ion-exchange/electrodialysis system was tested on-site at a galvanic plant. The system was used to treat a rinse solution containing approximately 5 g m−3 Ni2+. It operated continuously without the need of maintenance for a period of 3 months and was able to remove nickel to concentrations less than the analysis detection limit of approximately 0.2 g m−3. This work also describes the effect of solution pH on various aspects of the deionisation process.
