The legislatio policy and practice concerning the prevention of stress atwork in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany and France

bookPart
Last year, at the request of the Directorate-General of Labour of the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, TNO Institute of Preventive Health Care (NIPG) carried out an investigative, qualitative survey of the legislation, policy and practices concerning prevention of stress at work in four EC member states and Sweden. This survey was prompted by the introduction and implementation of the EC Framework Directive to improve health and safety conditions in the workplace. Although the term "stress at work" does not appear as such in the text of the framework directive, articles 5 and 6 (i.e. the general obligation of employers) in particular make an important contribution.
