Standard monitoring system for domestic heat pumps

conference paper
In the years to come many domestic heat pump systems are to be installed in the Netherlands. The Dutch agency for energy and environment, NOVEM, and the association of energy utility companies, EnergieNed, give high priority to the monitoring of heat pump systems. The results of the projects, carried out by several parties, should be comparable. For this reason, TNO has been asked to develop a Standard Monitoring System for domestic Heat Pumps, SMS-HP. The most important aspects of the monitoring procedure are: 1. A strict definition of all important concepts (terms, quantities); 2. Directives on the selection and the installation of measurement equipment; 3. Examples of instrumentation schemes for various heat pump system types; 4. Directives for elaboration and analysis of measurements; 5. Various levels of monitoring (basic, extended, survey of inhabitants' satisfaction).
