Control of secondary stickies : waste of money or making money

other
This paper focuses to prevention / control of secondary stickies. This group of stickies are formed in the process out, of dissolved and colloidal material. Formation of secondary stickies is strongly related to (closure of) the water loop and by that to water related problems Iike smeI1, corrosion and reduced efficiency of additives because of the presence of anionic trash. Optimal control / prevention of secondary stickies is always part of the total wet-end control.
For an integrated control of secondary stickies the BiFRIPS concept is presented. Part of this concept are the BiFRIPS particles which selectively stabilises the material out of which otherwise secondary stickies might be formed. These anionically charged BiFRIPS particles are used in combination with cationic fixing agents. These fixing agents contribute to the prevention of secondary stickies by removal of the stabilised BiFRIPS-potential stickies complexes. However, the fixing agents also influences other anionically charged material. This might lead to a reduction in costs of additives, cleaning chemical-s for wires / felts and, by an increased closure of water system, to reduced energy and water consumption. A further advantage might be an increased dewatering of de-inking sludge.
