MADYMO finite element EUROSID-1 model

With the development of a finite element model of the EUROSID-1 crash dummy, MADYMO has introduced a new type of dummy models to their dummy model series. With the time efficient ellipsoid and facet models being particularly suitable for larger parameter variation studies, and the FE models for more detailed in-depth analyses, MADYMO will offer the crash-safety engineer a complete range of dummy models. The new EUROSID-1 FE model combines finite elements for all deformable outer surface structures with a multibody skeleton underneath. This enables a combination of accurate deformation representation and user-friendly positioning. The model has been validated by means of a series of component and full dummy tests. The results proved the quality of the model to be similar to that of the existing MADYMO ellipsoid and facet models. The model is available for beta-release for a limited industrial user group. The model will be further improved in the near future after examination of the feedback from the beta-testing group.
