ADVANCE, a modular vehicle simulation environment in MATLAB/SIMULINK
conference paper
This paper presents the development of a hybrid electric powertrain test platform. In the development process use has been made of ADVANCE, a modular vehicle simulation environment in MATLAB/Simulink. The background, philosophy, and the concept of the ADVANCE tool are discussed and a brief introduction on how to work with the tool is given. Some basic information on the modelling of different vehicle components is presented. ADVANCE combines efficient powertrain and vehicle dynamics modelling in one (Simulink) simulation environment, and the user has all MATLAB/Simulink functionality at his disposal for controller design and real-time HIL/RCP work. The hybrid electric powertrain test platform is used by TNO to conduct research on hybrid powertrains, focusing on the development of control strategies and component integration. This paper shows some examples of the application of ADVANCE in the project.
