Flue gas treatment with membrane gas absorption

article
Dutch researchers from the TN0 Institute have developed a technique to carry out gas-liquid contacting operations using hollow fibre membranes in combination with an absorption liquid. The method known as membrane gas absorption, aims to combine the advantages of membrane technology (compactness, flexibility) with absorption processes (selectivity) to give a highly flexible separation process. XTO-membrane technology, a joint venture between TNO and the Dutch membrane manufacturer X-Flow, developed the module used in this process. X-Flow already has plans underway to commercialise this module for contacting applications.
