Microstructure of explosively compacted ceramic materials

conference paper
The relation between explosive compaction of ceramics and the resulting microstructure was investigated. Hydroxylapatite was explosively compacted to 99% TMD, and subsequently sintered to 100% TMD. The bulk ionic oxygen conductivity of a 93% TMD explosively compacted YBa_2Cu_3O_7-x was studied with impedance spectroscopy. And the shock wave velocity during compaction of AlN powder to 86% TMD was measured and fitted to a first order model.
