Mental workability and an increasing lifespan

bookPart
Satisfactory job performance depends both on the condition of the work environment and the characteristics of the individual employee. An important characteristic of employees is their information-processing capacity, a concept which is highly related to mental work capacity. Generally it is expected that there is a general decline in the capacity of the information-processing system with advancing age. Modern work with its information and communication technology increases mental demands of work. On the other hand the general attitude towards older workers becomes friendlier and more tolerant. Lifelong learning at work can be applied as a successful strategy against changes in the nature of work and individual changes over the lifespan.
