Stability of nitrocellulose propellants

conference paper
The surveillance of gun propellants is basically performed either by an investigation into the thermal behaviour of the propellant or by the determination of its remaining effective stabilizer content. In the Netherlands the thermal behaviour is investigated by following the heat generation of the propellant at 358 K for an aging period of one week. This procedure is representative for a storage period of at least ten years at ambient temperature.
