Refraction Profiles over a Marine Surface

conference paper
Considerable experimental evidence shows propagation calculations based on evaporative duct models have a positive bias with respect to the measured propagation. The bias suggests the influence of physical processes currently not taken into account by the bulk models. It is suggested here that the presence of the wave surface and evaporating aerosols in the surface layer are processes that should be taken into account for evaporative duct calculations.
