Atmospheric nitrogen inputs into the coastal ecosystem (ANICE)

conference paper
The study on Atmospheric Nitrogen Inputs into the Coastal Ecosystem (ANICE) is focused on the improvement of models describing atmospheric transport and transformation of nitrogen compounds. Model tools are needed for mapping of the nitrogen load and for studies of the impacts of different regulations of anthropogenic emissions. The Southern North Sea is taken here as the prototype. ANICE is a mixture of modeling efforts and experiments. The latter are needed both to improve and to test the models. The study involves two intensive fieldexperiments (IOP) with measurements at a coastal site, on a research platform and during thesecond IOP also on a ship, as well as from a long-term observational period involving automated sampling. Remote sensing techniques wilt be used as a tool.
