Over-Water Eddy Correlation Measurements of Fluxes of Momentum, Heat, Water Vapor and CO2
bookPart
Using a fast-response ultrasonic anemometer and a fast-response non dispersive
infrared gas sensor for CO2 and H2O, fluxes of momentum, heat,
water vapor and CO2 were measured from a platform in the North Sea at
9 km from the coast of The Netherlands during the Air Sea CAS EXchange
experiment ASCASEX. The instruments were mounted at the end of a 21 m
long boom, about 6 m above the mean sea level. The results obtained for
the fluxes of momentum, heat and watervapor compare favourably with earlier
published data for similar conditions and with results obtained during
the HEXOS experiment at the same location. The CO2 fluxes varied between
-0.03 and +0.O7 mg/(m2s). This is only about a factor of 3 larger than the
estimated minimum detectable CO2 flux that can be measured with the utilized
sensor package.
