Background: In several studies, higher plasma levels of histidine-rich glycoprotein (HRG) have been observed in patients with venous thrombosis than in healthy subjects. Apart from environmental factors, such as the use of oral contraceptives, the plasma HRG levels are mainly determined genetically. The most important genetic determinant is P...

51 monoclonal antibodies (McAb) with putative specificity for human IgA, the IgA subclasses, Am allotypes or secretory component (SC) were evaluated for immunoreactivity and specificity by nine laboratories employing immunodiffusion, agglutination, immunohistological assays, immunoblotting and direct binding and competitive inhibition enzyme...

Recently, two molecular weight forms of Histidine-rich Glycoprotein have been described which explain 59% of the variation in plasma HRG levels. Here, we demonstrate that this can partly be ascribed to a difference in specificity of the immuno assay for HRG towards the two alleles of the polymorphism.

??2-Antiplasmin (??2-AP) is a major fibrinolysis inhibitor, whose complete, congenital absence has been found to be associated with a distinct hemorrhagic diathesis. We studied a 15-yr-old male with a hemorrhagic diathesis after trauma from early childhood on. This bleeding tendency was associated with a minimal ??2-AP level recorded...

The reference values of the three main types of serum haptoglobin Hp 1-1, Hp 2-1, and Hp 2-2, as determined by radial immunodiffusion and with phenotype determination on polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis have been re-evaluated for both sexes. For that purpose about 500 serum samples were collected from normal, healthy Dutch volunteers. The...

Human plasminogen activators were compared immunologically in both a double-diffusion technique and quenching experiments on the fibrinolytic activities of the activators. Antisera against HMW and LMW urokinase and an antiserum against highly purified tissue plasminogen activator from human uterus were used. It was found that uterine tissue...

Antisera raised in rabbits against purified components gp52, p28 and p12 of murine mammary tumor virus (MuMTV) were first characterized by means of immunodiffusion, immunoelectrophoresis and radioimmunoassay. No significant crossreactivity could be detected. The 3 polypeptides were detected by means of these antisera in the cytoplasm of murine...

Rat fibrinogen was purified from rat plasma by using lysine-Sepharose chromatography, repeated precipitation with 25%-satd. (HN4)2SO4 and gel chromatography on Sepharose 6B. To minimize proteolytic activity, rats were injected intravenously with Trasylol before bleeding and the collected blood was treated with Trasylol and di-isopropyl...
